Rooted in faith since 1866

First Missionary Baptist Church has been part of Tuscumbia since 1866. Our pastor is Rev. Dr. Jimmy D. Shaw, Jr.

Our mission and vision

Our mission is to make disciples (Matthew 28:19–20).

He Put Me in His L.A.P. — Love. Authority. Purpose.

Our 2026 vision calls us to live held by God’s love, called by His authority, and sent with His purpose. #HeldCalledSent

Grow and serve together

Our Disciple’s Path centers on five steps:

Gather: Come together for worship, learning, and community.
Gift: Use your gifts to serve others.
Go: Share Christ’s love beyond the church walls.
Grow: Deepen your faith through Scripture, prayer, and discipleship.
Give: Share your time, energy, and resources generously.

Planning for the future

Our church is prayerfully gathering congregational input to help shape its future. This planning process focuses on how we can grow in discipleship and serve our neighbors faithfully. Specific initiatives remain proposals until confirmed.
