Rooted in Faith, Growing in Community
First Missionary Baptist Church has been part of Tuscumbia, Alabama, since 1866. Our pastor is Rev. Dr. Jimmy D. Shaw, Jr.
Our mission is to make disciples (Matthew 28:19–20).
Our 2026 vision, “He Put Me in His L.A.P.,” centers on Love, Authority, and Purpose: held by God’s love, called by His authority, and sent with His purpose. #HeldCalledSent
Our Disciple’s Path invites us to Gather, Gift, Go, Grow, and Give. Through worship, learning, service, and generosity, we seek to grow in faith and serve our neighbors.
Pastor’s Welcome
Rev. Dr. Jimmy D. Shaw, Jr.
Excerpt from the 2026 pastoral letter
As your pastor, I remain thankful for the privilege of walking with you in this season of our church’s life. My prayer is that we continue to grow as a people who know whose we are, hear God’s voice clearly, and respond faithfully to His sending. Let us move forward together, held by God’s love, called by His authority, and sent with His purpose.
To God be the glory for what He has done, what He is doing, and what He will yet do among us.
In Christ’s Love and Service,
Dr. Jimmy D. Shaw, Jr.
