In Luke 14:33, Jesus teaches that following Him requires surrendering all that we have.
We know how to sing I Surrender All. The question follows us when the music stops: what will those words mean in the way we live? This week we have considered our own response to Jesus, His authority over our possessions, and the concrete obedience that grows from trusting His grace. Now we can look honestly at the step still waiting for us.
Perhaps there is something to share, money to give, or a possession to release. Perhaps we need to change a spending decision we have been defending. Each household's response will look different, but none of us can reserve a corner of life from the Lord we follow.
We can trust Him with what we have because He gave Himself for us. As we prepare to worship again, let us bring Him an honest yes and carry it into an ordinary act of obedience.
Today: Choose one act of obedience you have postponed this week. Write down when you will do it, and follow through before the next worship service.
Prayer: Jesus, let my worship reach the way I live. Give me grace to follow You with nothing held back. Amen.
